About Us

Karen Orenyak has been the owner operator of Karen's Custom Grooming for 17 years. Karen has been grooming for 27 years with prior veterinary care experience before opening her business. She is a So. California native and a 1983 Carlsbad High School graduate. Karen currently lives in San Marcos with her husbad Jim,her boxer Zena and their Mexican rescue Zorro.

Jenny Dorman has been grooming dogs and cats for 18 years. A native Philadelphian, she moved to Carlsbad 4 years ago with her husband, dog and cat. She has been a member of the Karen’s Customs Grooming team ever since. Her black lab, Ripley, used to work here too as one of the official greeters. She has since decided to retire and now spends her days lounging at home on the furniture and eating the cat food.

In her spare time Jenny can most often be found with Ripley at the beach or riding her bike. An avid cyclist and cancer awareness supporter, she has been involved with the LIVESTRONGä organization for the past three years. As a member of a local cycling team, the Oceanside Glasstile Cancer Kickers, she fundraises for this worthy cause and participates in long distance charity bike rides. So far she has ridden hundreds of miles in three states in her fight against cancer.
